WEDDING CARS & TRANSPORT
DOUBLE DECKER BUS TOUR
The Double Decker Bus is a fun and funky retro way to get your guests to where they need to be. What more is there to say?
QUEENSTOWN CLASSIC CAR JOURNEYS
I only just realised that I hadn’t listed Queenstown Classic Car Journeys here and they are the transportation vendor I have worked with the most over the years. Kevan and Lizzie are totally awesome and I highly recommend them. And their classic cars are gorgeous. I will add photos here asap (I have plenty!).
REMARKABLE’S EXPERIENCE (VINTAGE CHEVROLET CONVERTIBLE BUSES)
I have been dying to photograph these beautiful vintage convertible Chevrolet buses from Remarkable Experience for a long time now and this October at Adam & Laura’s wedding at Thurlby Domain I finally got my chance. These old buses are absolute beauties and add anything to any wedding they go to. So if you’re looking for some stylish wedding transport for your guests or bridal party give Neville at Remarkable Experience a bell! (He’s a great guy too, by the way).

In March last year I had the pleasure of tasting some of Artisan Catering’s work at Rachael & Gareth’s vintage Clyde wedding. Lunch was in the style of a high tea, or old-fashioned picnic, and it was truly delicious! If you are looking for wedding caterers in the Queenstown area I can highly recommend Artisan Catering.
DELICIOUS COOKING LTD
(Note: The website above is actually for their cooking classes business. If you want info on wedding catering give Glynnie or Heather a call. They’re lovely ladies and I’m sure they’ll look after you).
Recently I had the pleasure of being a guest at my good friends Jim & Flic’s wedding at Paradise. The wedding was beautiful – very rustic and down to earth and very Jim and Flic. The whole thing happened at the beautiful Paradise Trust, located in Paradise (yes, it is a real place!) about 1.25 hours drive north from Queenstown near a little town called Glenorchy.
Anyway, enough about the wedding, let’s talk about the food…the food was awesome! As a wedding photographer I have eaten at a few weddings. Also my mother is a Cordon Bleu chef and an ex-caterer so, while I am far from a connoisseur, I know a good meal when I eat one! Because the majority of the guests were vegetarians Jim & Flic opted for a vegetarian menu. I am not a vegetarian and there were a few other meat-lovers seated near me and herbivores and carnivores alike all loved the food. The various dishes were placed down the centre of each line of trestle tables in clusters, so each group of 6 – 8 guests had their own selection of dishes to choose from. When I chatted to Glynnie (the chef) after the wedding she said she likes to present the food this way as it avoids queuing or massive waits from one table to the next to be served. She also said laying the food out like this meant that popular items didn’t get finished off by the first wave of hungry guests. (Apparently Glynnie is famous for her salmon, and in the past when she served food in a buffet style the first guests would help themselves to a huge helping of salmon, meaning there was none left for the rest of the guests). The way Glynnie served the food meant everybody got to try every dish, and it was a really social way to eat. You didn’t have to leave the table all the time to get your food, you could just hang out and chat with the other guests while enjoying a delicious dinner.
Glynnie as I already mentioned, is the chef at Delicious Cooking. Her partner is Heather Vincent. I have worked with Heather off and on for years in the film industry, where Heather is a props buyer. So while Glynnie knows how to make your wedding TASTE amazing Heather knows how to make your wedding reception LOOK amazing. The various props she added to Jim & Flic’s reception really added a touch of class and made the whole thing look amazing.
Glynnie said they were catering for a wedding of 150 the following weekend and she was going to bring in 3 commercial rental stoves for that wedding. So they can cater to large or small weddings and are totally mobile.
Honestly, all of the celebrants listed here on this page are awesome (if they weren’t I wouldn’t recommend them!). But celebrants are like photographers, it’s highly personal – different strokes and all that. So get in touch with the celebrants listed on this page, start a dialogue with them and see which one feels right for you.
For the past few years I have worked with Kathryn Omond more than any other wedding celebrant.
Kathryn is a lovely lady and awesome at her job so I love working with her. For that reason, I’m happy to recommend her to anybody getting married in Queenstown.
I used to work with Philippa Cook all the time, but now for some reason we seem to move in different wedding circles a lot of the time. Despite not working much with Philippa in the past year or two some things never change.
She is a lovely person and a kick-ass wedding celebrant. ‘Nuff said!
I recently had the pleasure of working for the first time with local celebrant Philippa Thomas at Megan & Tony’s super relaxed elopement style wedding at Lake Hayes Reserve near Arrowtown. Philippa did a sterling job and was natural, relaxed and down to earth, which suited Megan and Tony (and me) to a tee! So, if you are after a younger celebrant who is relaxed, natural and friendly (and very professional) you can’t go wrong with Philippa. Note: although Philippa is fairly new to the Queenstown area she has been working as a wedding celebrant in Wellington for the past few years so she is far from a “newb” in the wedding game. If she sounds like your cup of tea give her a bell and tell her a little bit about what you are after from your wedding ceremony.
PAT FALLON (GERALDINE WEDDING CELEBRANT WHO DOES THE ODD QUEENSTOWN WEDDING)
Email: email@example.com Phone: +64 3 693 7461
Now this next fella is based in Geraldine and only does the occasional Queenstown weddings but as he’s my dad and also a wedding celebrant I’d be in big trouble if I didn’t give him a plug. And now that wee Juniper (our 5 month old little girl) is on the scene he’s looking for every excuse to visit Queenstown he can get!
My Dad (it feels weird to call him Pat) is Irish and (like me) bald and he does a pretty mean wedding ceremony. Simple and natural.
Just to confuse you his name, like mine, is also Patrick Fallon. (The Irish, it seems, aren’t the most imaginative when it comes to naming their sons!) So if you feel like having half the Fallon family at your wedding give Pat a ring. Who knows, we might even be able to do you a 2-for-1 deal!

WEDDING DECOR HIRE
I’ll add more information here shortly, but for now here are the links to a number of companies who rent out wedding decor hire like chairs, tables etc. I hope you find this list useful;
WEDDING D.J.S AND MUSICIANS
The only DJ I seem to work with these days is Jay Moore of Atmospheric DJ here in Queenstown. Luckily for me Jay is not only a good friend of mine but also an excellent DJ. I always know the first dance is in safe hands with a pro like him at the wheel. Now I am far from an expert on DJ-ing myself but from my experience shooting weddings I’ve learned that the most important skill a wedding DJ needs to have is the ability to read a crowd – to know when to keep things mellow and when to crank the party up. Jay has got this dialed and knows how to make sure your guests have a great time. On top of this he’s a true pro. (Don’t tell him I said this though or he’ll get a big head). If you need a wedding DJ I can highly recommend him – give him a call.
More choice. More energy. More Fun. Weddings are their specialty with a broad range of material tailored to get all ages up and dancing. These guys are able to take you from dinner music to rock and roll and top 40…a live band and DJ rolled into one simple package.
They’ve been rocking their brand of sophisticated party music the length of the nation since 2005. From international corporate events with floors pumping, to intimate evenings with New Zealand’s top chief executives, to wedding receptions that leave everyone breathless – LA Social are more than a band! They’re entertainers first and they’ll give their all to give you a huge night!
Milly is another friend and also a very talented musician. She plays acoustic guitar and sings and, well, she’s fantastic. She always has the biggest smile on her face and is a really chilled out, relaxed person (it helps a lot to surround yourself with people like that on your wedding day!). Although both Milly and Jay are good friends of mine I wouldn’t put either of them on my blog if I didn’t think they were both talented and great at their jobs.
Di Bowbyes at Everlasting Daisies specialises in artificial flowers for weddings and other events. Some of the advantages of artificial wedding flowers (off the top of my head) are;
- No more worries about guest/bridal party allergies (my partner Jada is terribly allergic to lilies so I know about this one first-hand!).
- Not being limited by which flowers are “in season”.
- Being able to arrange your flowers well before the wedding date and not having to worry that they will wilt from heat/lack of water/age.
- Knowing exactly what your flowers will look like on the day – the exact colour, size and shape.
THE FLOWER ROOM
Sarah at The Flower Room is amazing. She is, at least at this stage, the only Queenstown wedding florist I ever recommend and I recommend her all the time. Because (not sure if I mentioned this?), she’s amazing!
I am a guy and even I have my breath taken away by her work. So it must be good (usually we don’t even notice).
Which makes it even more embarrassing that I only just added her to this page! What can I say – I forgot…
WANAKA WEDDING FLOWERS
WEDDING HELICOPTER FLIGHTS
Helicopters are a great way to get to a stunning mountain top or other exotic location for some mind-blowing location photos that otherwise you would never be able to get to.
On top of that riding in a chopper is a hell of a lot of fun! Feel free to contact me for more info on choppers, otherwise you could always contact the chopper companies themselves for prices and recommended locations. Some of the more popular (and closer/cheaper) helicopter locations are Remarkable’s Ridge and The Ledge on Cecil Peak.
Heliworks is a local Queenstown helicopter company I have worked with a lot and they offer a great service to brides and grooms wanting to get to a stunning mountain top for some spectacular location photos.
WEDDING MAKEUP ARTISTS
BRENDA BYGATE | SHD PROFESSIONAL
I worked with the lovely Yanisa Boon on Georgina & Peter’s awesome autumn wedding in May of 2016 and based on how beautiful Georgina and the girls looked on the day and how easy she was to work with I would be happy recommending her to any brides needing wedding makeup in the Queenstown area.
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Phone: Tel: +64 (0)212115342
I have worked with Emily on several weddings now and she does a fantastic job. The brides and their bridesmaids love her work and they look gorgeous in their photos – which makes my job easy and also means I love her work! Not much more to say really. Give Emily a ring, she will look after you.

There are a couple of reasons Josh Hutchinson is the only local wedding videographer I’m recommending these days.
One reason is that he is a total pro who does a good job. Needless to say I wouldn’t feel happy recommending him if he wasn’t!
The other reason is because Josh is the only local wedding videographer I have actually worked with, he’s a great guy and we work well together. There’s a lot going on on your wedding day – for you and for your photographer and videographer – and there’s usually not that much free time between the ceremony and the reception. So it’s important that your photographer and videographer work well together so they both get the shots they need whilst still allowing you to feel relaxed and actually enjoy your wedding day.
Josh is an experienced video pro but has only just started shooting weddings. Here’s a link to one of Josh’s recent wedding videos;

HEALTHY HENS PARTIES NZ
I have literally only just this morning discovered Healthy Hens Parties NZ. I was browsing an email from New Zealand Weddings when I stumbled upon some photos of ladies having a healthy, outdoorsy hen party in what was clearly my own beloved Queenstown! Immediately I was intrigued and decided to learn more.
This is what Healthy Hens creator Caitlin Reid told New Zealand Weddings about what it is they do;
“Women want quality time with their friends, while doing a truly memorable activity in a beautiful setting. Healthy Hens blends everything from yoga to great food, Queenstown’s best views and some bubbles of course!”
I think this is an awesome idea and an awesome business for couples getting married in Queenstown, especially the type of couples I tend to work with.
I will do some digging and post more info here as and when I have it.
TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS CAKES
Cakes made to the highest standard using the best quality ingredients. Every cake must look so amazing and taste so fantastic that guests are still carrying around the memory years later.
Right, that’s it for now. I will continue to add more Queenstown wedding vendors as and when I can. In the meantime, if you have any recommendations for Queenstown wedding vendors that you feel deserve a bit of free press for doing a good job, feel free to let me know about them by commenting here or emailing me at email@example.com.
