These range from banquets to degustation, with “Wild Kiwi” and “Northern Italian” inspired menu options. Situated on the waterfront, this modern, chic venue offers stunning views of the lake and mountains. The menu features all of the classic mains to suit even the fussiest of in-laws, and a central open fire creates a cosy atmosphere. Seating is available for up to 180 people, while the total capacity is 250, such as for a cocktail party.
Take your wedding reception to a whole new level – at the top of the Queenstown Gondola. Stratosfare boasts some of the most iconic panoramic views over Queenstown, their “Flexibility Plus Menu Designer” allows you to design your own menu. Seating is available for 380 guests, while exclusive complex hire can accommodate up to 900 guests (for those with guest lists which have inexplicably grown to legendary proportions). This intimate and cosy setting is perfect for smaller reception parties. The Bunker accommodates private dining for up to 30 people, offering a variety of upper-class canapé and special group menu options. The cocktail bar is also available, with a capacity of 100.
Arguably the most important consideration, Wakatipu Grill offers a particularly decadent dessert menu and extensive wine list. This is another classy restaurant on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, with a strong focus on locally sourced seasonal cuisine and seating for up to 150 people. The Hilton also supports Cru Wine Bar & Lounge, perfect for pre-dinner drinks and canapés. Well known for producing some of New Zealand’s finest wines and cheeses, this idyllic venue with views of the Kawarau River, is located 25 minutes from Queenstown. There is a range of menu options, from tapas to buffets and even a kid’s menu. The Wine Vault seats up to 140 people and up to 250 when combined with the courtyard. Located out of the hustle and bustle, near Glenorchy, Kinloch Lodge excels in mouth-watering canapés, sharing platters, hearty BBQ buffets and formal a la carte dinners. Seating is available for up to 90 people. * (see note at bottom of page).
Although there is no catering on site, this iconic 1860’s Woolshed is still worth a mention. Brimming with old-world charm, Peregrine Winery is an ideal venue for both wedding receptions and ceremonies alike. Dinner seating is available for up to 110 people and a new marquee seats up to 180. This rustic venue beside Lake Hayes specialises in fresh, seasonal cuisine served with an innovative flair. A range of wedding menus are available to suit a variety of tastes and budgets, including buffet-style, gourmet BBQ, canapés, and formal a la carte dinners.
