On Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Dan & Kim’s wedding at Stoneridge Estate here in Queenstown. What can I say? It was just one of those perfect weddings. The weather was amazing, blue skies with just a few puffy white clouds here and there and not a breath of wind! The ponds at Stoneridge, and later Lake Hayes itself, were like mirrors and made for some awesome reflection shots.
Dan & Kim had flown over from the UK for the wedding and celebrated the day with 20 of their closest friends. They both looked stunning on the day, with a bit of a vintage look that suited them both so well. Philippa Cook did the honours as celebrant and, as usual, was absolutely lovely.
It was one of those weddings that was a total pleasure to photograph. Dan and Kim and all their friends were very low key and relaxed about the whole day – Dan & Kim even arrived together in the wedding car, and entered the church together. Very untraditional but I thought this was a lovely touch for a couple that have been together for 11 years and it just seemed right for their wedding.
Speaking of wedding cars, the car Dan and Kim chose for their wedding was a 1950’s Bentley from Luxury Chauffeurs. Neil was the driver and was absolutely fantastic on the day. Dan and Kim loved him and his Bentley. He even helped me shift some of my camera gear at one point! And that car…I can say without a doubt that that Bentley is one of the most beautiful wedding cars I have even seen. Simply stunning, and it really lifted any of the pictures it featured in. I’m not 100% sure but I think Neil actually owns Luxury Chauffeurs, and he seems to love his job! (I can’t tell you how much of a difference it will make to your wedding day to surround yourself with people who not only are good at what they do but also love what they’re doing!) Neil even drove the Bentley up from Dunedin (3.5 hours from Queenstown) specifically for this wedding. I cannot recommend him or Luxury Chauffeurs highly enough to anybody looking for a beautiful wedding car in Queenstown or Dunedin.
(I apologise if this post seems like one big advertisement for the various wedding professionals who helped make Dan & Kim’s day so perfect. It’s just that it was a truly wonderful wedding and these people did an amazing job. So I think they deserve a bit of credit for doing so! And no, I don’t own shares in Stoneridge or Luxury Chauffeurs – unfortunately!).
Right, enough rambling on from me. It was a lovely day. I’m going to leave you with a selection of photos from Dan & Kim’s big day…I hope you enjoy them.
