I think having a website for your wedding can be an incredibly useful tool and in this day and age there are several great websites like www.weddingwire.com* that help you to create your own stylish wedding website for free.  (For a shortcut to a sample WeddingWire wedding website just click here).

Having a website for your wedding can help you with things like invites, choosing wedding vendors, even creating (and hopefully sticking to!) your wedding budget.  It can also be a place where all your friends and family can share some of the thousands of photos that they took on your wedding day.  Without a way for people to share their wedding snapshots you may never get a copy of some great pics.  Like the great shot Uncle Vic got of the Wood Pidgeon that swooped over you and your groom during the exchanging of rings.  Or the photo of Grandma boogying to the sounds of “Flashdance”).

But…wedding websites aren’t for everyone.  Some people find them a waste of time.  Some people hate them.  What do you think?  Post your comments below.

PS I’m looking into a few companies that offer free wedding websites to see how well they work and to figure out the pros and cons of some of the main contenders.  (*For example, the weddingwire.com does not seem to offer New Zealand as an option for the country of your wedding.  This might prove a major headache down the track or it might not make any difference at all). It’s going to take me some time to look into the major players properly but I will post more info asap.  In the meantime if any of you have any experience/feedback on this subject I’d love to hear your comments.
